The Merlin Players Professional Theatrical Company will perform Harriet The Spy based on the book written by Louise Fitzhugh. The screenplay is written by Leslie Brody.

Cast members and others will be on the AM Minnesota program at 9:30 this morning.

The book was written in 1964 and has been critically acclaimed as, "A milestone in children's literature" and "a classic."

In the United States it's ranked the No. 12 book for kids and the No. 17 book of all-time, according to Wikipedia.

The following description of the play comes from the Merlin Players website, www.themerlinplayers.org: "Harriet M. Welch is the willful child of socialites. She is also a spy, who observes her friends and neighbors and writes about them in her notebook. However, things go quite wrong when her notebook goes missing. Her loving nurse, Ole Golly, must step in to artfully teach her about life. Adapted from the book you loved as a child, this play premiered at the Minneapolis Children's Theatre."

Tickets at the Paradise box office are $15 for adults and $9 for students 12 and younger.

The play is being directed by Jon Terrill.
