Medford sophomore Luke Johnston had a memorable debut appearance at the state track and field meet, setting a state record and winning two titles.

Johnson set a Class A record in the discus throw wheelchair division with a toss of 43-feet-one-inch according to the Minnesota State High School League. He won the title by more than ten feet. Johnston won his division of the shot put wheelchair event Friday with a throw of 17-feet-three-and-a-quarter-inches.

Triton junior Courtney West raced to second place in the 3200 Friday and finished third in the 1600 Saturday. She bettered her time in the 3200 by nearly ten seconds in the finals compared to her seed time. Cobras' sophomore Nell Graham took bronze in the 800 meter finals Saturday. With that trio of top three placings, Triton finished tenth overall in the Class A girls' standings.

Triton senior Leif Bunghum ran the 100 preliminaries Friday but didn't make the finals. Blooming Prairie junior Samantha Wurst was in Friday's high jump but did not place.
