May is Beef Month, a time set aside to recognize the beef industry. May was designated as Beef Month because it is the traditional start to the grilling season. With the popularity of gas grills, many consumers now grill year-round, even in the winter. The beef industry will be the topic on today's AM Minnesota program. When you mention the beef industry, many might think of Iowa or Texas, but it is huge in Minnesota, too. Remember that all dairy cows are part of the beef supply, plus dairy bull calves are fed out as beef animals

My guest will be Kaye Strohbehn, director of marketing for the Minnesota Beef Council. Strohbehn is responsible for directing public relations for the Minnesota Beef Council, coordinating consumer education and promotional programs by delivering food and nutrition information and working with youth programs.
