This Saturday the seventh annual Big Hats and Big Hearts event takes place with the Auction for the Arts and Kentucky Derby Party.

The fun begins at 4PM.

The Paradise Center for the Arts fundraiser includes lots of food, fashion, friends and fun.

There will be silent and live auctions, with proceeds going toward future arts and education programming at the Paradise Center for the Arts in Faribault.

There will be a hat contest and the Kentucky Derby will be shown on the big screen.

Also this month, Close to You-The Music of the Carpenters is coming to the Paradise Center for the Arts.

Lisa Rock has been performing to sold-out crowds for years and will be performing all the hits from the Carpenters of the 1970s at 7:30 PM Saturday, May 21.

Rock is a very talented musician. She has written more than 15 original concerts and cabarets seen across the nation and has arranged a six-piece band, complete with back-up singers, to create the Carpenters experience.

Rock has a four-octave range much like Karen Carpenter, which allows her to sing the classics, "We've Only Just Begun" and "Rainy Days and Mondays" in their original key.

Music critic Alex Bresloff says, "When she hits the lower ranger of her marvelous voice, if you close your eyes, you can see Karen Carpenter's face."
