Corn closed 3-5 cents lower today. Monday evening corn was a couple of cents higher. The Dollar Index was slightly higher in the overnight session, too. But gains accelerated during the day session and, at one time, the Dollar Index was up around 110 points and pressured all the grains. Export Loadings were 1.006 MMT compared to 1.008 MMT last week. After the close, the USDA reported that 92 percent of the corn had been planted. The average for this date is 88 percent planted. The first crop condition for corn was released today showing that 74 percent of the corn crop is in good to excellent condition. Some traders were expecting the corn crop condition to be around 80 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans closed lower today in a quiet session posting losses of 2-4 cents. Export Loadings were 291,192 MT more than three times the same week in 2014. Year to date Export loadings for beans are ahead of last year by 180 million bushels. The USDA reported that 61 percent of the bean crop was planted, average for this date is 55 percent planted.
