Corn closed out the week Friday 4 to 10 cents lower. A warmer dryer forecast had traders thinking we would see an increase in the corn crop condition in Monday afternoon's report. Looking at the national weather radar this morning major storms were moving through the Iowa Missouri boarder heading East to Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. This is exactly the area that has seen too much rain all season. I will grant the bears that the crop in Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and Nebraska looks very good. The bears argue that the Corn in the Western Corn Belt is so good it will make up for how bad the corn is in the Eastern Corn Belt. I don't believe that will be true but we will see when we get into harvest.

Beans closed Friday 4 to 8 cents lower. Old crop beans closed 17 cents lower for the week. New crop November was down 15 1/2 cents for the week. I have the feeling traders are a little more concerned about the bean crop. Not just how many million acres did not get planted but also that wet weather might hurt the beans more than corn. I think traders have heard the saying "beans don't like wet feet" too.
