I was driving home last night about one mile south of Hope and I saw these lights in the sky. When you are out in the field at night sometimes you see unusual things. I have seen meteors steak across the sky and one night I saw a huge flash of light in the eastern sky. My first thought was lightning in a thunderstorm, but there were no thunderstorms on the radar. I heard later on the news it was a meteor that exploded in the atmosphere is southern Minnesota. I have never seen a UFO, until maybe last night?

No these lights are not a UFO, but if you did not know what we there you might wonder. These are actually lights from a huge shuttle loading elevator the Crystal Valley Co-op built a little over a year ago. The grain bins are huge and they have millions of bushels of storage capacity. They can unload three trucks at a time with legs that can move incredible bushels of grain. The first time you come with your truck you go to the office and pick up a card with a computer chip. After that the computer reads who you are when you pull onto the scale before heading over to the unloading area. It is amazing when you think about it. You go to the elevator and you don't even have to get out of the truck to weigh or unload. Plus they can dump so fast there are no lines. They can load a 110-car train in a few hours, which is about 450,000 bushels of grain!
