A friend of mine posted a question on social media in regards to one's least favorite Christmas song. In a matter of minutes after offering up mine, I had a half dozen likes.

I did a little poking around the box of Christmas songs we have here at the station. There are so many that never got airplay probably anywhere. I then checked out YouTube for obscure, somewhat tasteless and just plain strange Christmas songs. There's no shortage.

Anyway here's a few odd ones.

    Daddy's Drinkin Up Our Christmas

We'll start with this one "Daddy's Drinkin Up Our Christmas." This is a rendition from Marty Stuart. In a nutshell, presents will be scarce this year because daddy drank up all his Christmas gift money.

    Merry Christmas From the Family

Here's a familiar one that I really really don't care for. It's "Merry Christmas From the Family" by Montgomery Gentry. Somehow hearing both mom and dad are drunk and then they go to the store for more booze along with cigarettes and Midol just doesn't seem like a Christmas song to me.

    Randolph the Brown Nosed Reindeer

Actually I don't mind this Christmas song, but I can see where someone may not particularly care for it. It's "Randolph the Brown Nosed Reindeer." The gist of the song is that Randolph followed Rudolph too closely and sometimes Rudolph would stop real fast and you can guess where the song title came from.

Grandpa Got Run Over By a Beer Truck

The song I posted as my least favorite is one that's been around for maybe close to 40 years now. It's Elmo and Patsy singing "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer." Never cared for that song. However, look what I found while searching for it: "Grandpa Got Run Over By a Beer Truck." This one is a bit better than Grandma getting run over.
