It was warm and sunny on Sunday afternoon and I was feeling restless, even though my wife and I had just gone on a nice long walk on the bike trail in town. So we took a drive out to Cannon Lake to see if the ice had started to break up yet. We ended up at Shager Park and were pleasantly surprised to see a nice little family enjoying a picnic supper in the shelter. They were the only people we saw out there as we continued to the boat access.

The drive into that area was completely littered with trash all the way into the access, where it only got worse. It always amazes me how little respect people have for their community. They're given a nice area where they can drive out onto the lake for ice fishing in the winter and launch their boats in the summer and the DNR spends tons of money each year to make boaters aware of invasive species and how to remove them, but people don't give a second thought to throwing their trash on the ground and driving off. Never mind the fine, this kind of activity leaves behind an eyesore that ruins the scenery for future users of the boat landing and dock.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not just pointing my finger at boaters and ice fishermen and women, this kind of callous disregard for the environment happens everywhere. So, please, when you're out at the lake, park or really anywhere enjoying the great outdoors, remember to bring your trash home with you and dispose of it properly. Don't make someone else clean up after you. By the way, I did get a nice shot of the lake from the shore.
