The Kenyon-Wanamingo softball team has had some incredible battles with the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms over the years and last night the two volleyball teams played a five set thriller in the Blossoms Garden.  K-W won the first set 25-19 and saw Blooming Prairie capture the next two sets by scores of 25-22 before Kenyon-Wanamingo cut down on their service errors and won the final two sets 25-19 and 15-9.  The Knights tallied 9 service errors over the first three sets and had just one over the final two.  K-W Head Coach Jen Nerison told POWER 96 following the match she simply told the girls to serve where they felt most comfortable and didn't call serves the last couple sets.  It must've worked, because Sophmore Mara Quam reeled off 4 aces in those two sets after four previous errors and Senior Brittany Flom added two aces in the last two sets.  Sophmore Mia Peterson also collected a couple ace serves.  The first few sets Blooming Prairie was picking up every ball that came their way, but they definitely looked tired in the fifth set. 5'7 Senior Outside Hitter Emily Ashland led the charge in the final couple sets for K-W and was super efficient hitting all night.  Ashland, Mara Quam, Siri Quam and Mia Peterson were our Sviggum Insurance Agency Knights of the match.  Kenyon-Wanamingo is 13-1 and travels to Zumbrota-Mazeppa for a HVL tussle Tuesday night while the Awesome Blossoms host Gopher Conference foe United South Central Thursday.  The final service numbers for K-W were 9 aces and 10 errors.  3 aces and 9 errors through the first three sets and 6 aces and one error in the final two sets.
