Rumors have been spreading for a while, but now it is going to happen. According to the Northfield News, the Kmart in Dundas will close in April. Thirty-two employees will be affected by the closure. They have been told they can apply at other area Kmart and Sears stores. The closing does not affect the Sears store nearby.

A liquidation sale will start on January 24. No new layaway customers will be accepted. Current layaway customers can continue to make their payments and still have time to pick up their items.

In late 2011, Sears announced “marginally performing” Sears and Kmart stores would be closing. That list showed four Kmart stores in Minnesota, but the Dundas store was not on the list.

Joyce Ambrosen thanked all the area communities for their support and all those that have been coming to the store for the past 25 years.

The only other Minnesota store on the list this time was one in Virginia, Minn. This one also is slated for closing in April, according to dbtechno.com.
