Remember as a kid, how much you liked big trucks, tractors and construction vehicles or watching the police or firetrucks fly by with their sirens screaming? Remember how much you wished you could climb inside and check them out? Well, when I was a kid I was lucky enough to have a dad who worked for the Rice County Highway Department and sometimes he would bring me down to the shop and let me play in the road graders or the dump trucks. Even better, a couple of times I got to go for a ride in these same vehicles.

That's why, when I saw that Faribault Lutheran School was hosting a Touch-A-Truck event last night, I just had to bring my grandkids down there so they could experience it for themselves. They had a blast climbing in and on the vehicles on display and we ended up spending about an hour there. They got to check out a tanker truck, a tow truck, a garbage truck, a couple of tractors, a boom truck, a dump truck, trailer and skid loader combo, an SUV from the Faribault Police Department and a Rice County Sheriff Department's truck and boat. they also got some free popcorn and nice backpack type of bag.

All in all it was a fun night and the kids all seemed to have a good time. A big thank you to the Faribault Lutheran School, volunteers and owners and operators of the vehicles on display; you brought a lot of happiness to a bunch of kids last night.
