The Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights were behind early in their first two sets but breezed to a sweep of the Awesome Blossoms of Blooming Prairie on Monday night.

Scores were 25-17, 25-13 and 25-11.

The night started with two hitting errors by the Knights and the second set saw Blooming Prairie jump out to a 5-2 lead.

Kenyon-Wanamingo finished the night with nine service errors, and head coach Jen Nerison knows her team can't have those Tuesday night when they travel to Kasson to face the Class 2A fourth-ranked Kasson-Mantorville Komets.

Our Kenyon Holden Warsaw Insurance Agency Knights of the match were sophomore Corynne Dahl and junior Alexa Christenson for their stellar timing on blocks at the net, and juniors Megan Flom and Mara Quam.

Quam had seven of the team's 10 ace serves and joined Flom with double-digit kills in the match.

Blooming Prairie didn't get into their offense much due to the aggressive Kenyon-Wanamingo serving.

With the victory, Kenyon-Wanamingo improved to 18-0 on the season. They captured the Wabasha Kellogg Tournament over the weekend. The latest Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association poll released Monday still had the Knights ranked 10th in Class 2A.  Stewartville moved up a notch to second, Kasson-Mantorville moved up to fourth and Cannon Falls still received votes in Class 2A.

Hayfield received votes but didn't crack the top 10 in Class A. In addition to the Knights heading to Kasson-Mantorville, on Tuesday night Cannon Falls is in Stewartville.
