The Knights had five players with at least five kills each while sweeping Zumbrota-Mazepa to earn a share of the Hiawatha Valley League title for the second straight year.

The evening in the Castle began with a salute to the seniors and ended with the team hoisting the HVL championship hardware. Kenyon-Wanamingo swept Zumbrota-Mazeppa 25-22, 25-18 and 25-16. The Knights jumped out to a big lead in each set to end the regular season with a 28-4 record, 10-1 in the HVL. Stewartville beat Goodhue 3-0 on Thursday to also finish 10-1 in the league.

Megan Flom reached at least 10 kills. Mara Quam, Corynne Dahl, Alexa Christenson and Ally Peterson each contributed at least five kills.

KW raced to a 9-2 lead in the opening set, but ZM kept clawing back until they tied the match at 22-22. KW scored the final three points to close out the set. A similarly strong start to the second set put the Knights up 7-2. Kenyon-Wanamingo led 8-3 in the third set.

Seniors Alexa Christenson, Siri Quam and Sarah Sahl were presented with gifts and flowers before the varsity match.

KW is the top seed in Section 2AA, south subsection and will host Maple River at 7PM on Thursday, October 29, with the action on Power 96.
