The Hayfield Vikings averaged 6.5 three pointers per game heading into the West Subsection Championship game of Section One Class 2A Saturday night.  They had that many in each half!  The Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights led 31-25 at the half and prevailed 60-58 to advance to the Section Final next week.  K-W's leading scorer Siri Sviggum tallied 18 ponts, 14 of them in the first half.  Megan Quam added 13 and Brittany Flom 10 and the Knights got a huge contribution again from someone off their bench.  In the Pine Island win it was Emily Ashland and in the Hayfield victory Freshman Mara Quam scored 8 points.   Twice in the second half the Knights looked like they were going to secure a comfortable win, with double digit leads, but Hayfield kept hitting threes.  Six Vikings joined the three parade and three fouled out of the game.  K-W didn't shoot a single free throw in the first half, but ended up 14 of 19 from the line while the Vikes were 8 of 12.  Hayfield's Johanna Bungum finished with 15 points including 4 threes, Dani Wagner collected 3 threes en route to 12 points and Jessica Foster tallied 2 threes while scoring 12 points.  The stat of the game for K-W may have been the points in the Jerry's Ace Hardware paint.  34-10.  The Held Bus Service Knighs of the game were Sviggum, Flom. Megan and Mara Quam.  Audra Clark sank two free throws with 5 seconds left to secure the victory as K-W just let Hayfield go down the court and score a layup for the final margin.  The Knights now play a very young and strong Plainview-Elgin-Millville team.  The Bulldogs ended Chatfield's unbeaten season in the East Subsection Final 61-58 led by a pair of Sophomores.  The Secton One CLass 2A title game is Thursday night at 8 in the Mayo Civic Arena and the game will be aired on POWER 96 Radio.  The winner goes to the State Girls Basketball Tournament.
