Kenyon-Wanamingo School Superintendent on AM Minnesota 10-30-2017
The Kenyon-Wanamingo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeff Pesta will be the guest on today's KDHL AM Minnesota program at 9:30 a.m.
On Tuesday, November 7 residents of the Kenyon-Wanamingo school district are being asked to vote on two questions dealing with the district's upcoming facilities referendum.
The first question is: "Shall the school board of Independent School District No. 2172 (Kenyon-Wanamingo Public Schools) be authorized to issue it's general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $7,150,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the construction of additions to and the renovation, repair, remodeling, upgrading, equipping, and construction of improvements to the high school, middle school, and elementary school sites and facilities; the completion of deferred maintenance projects at the various facilities; the completion of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical improvements at the high school and middle school facilities; the completion of ADA improvements at the middle school and elementary school facilities; the construction of secure entries and safety improvements to various facilities; the construction of a football field, track and playground improvements; and the completion of parking lot, sidewalk, landscaping and traffic flow improvements district wide?"
The second question is: "Shall the school board of Independent School District No. 2172 (Kenyon-Wanamingo Public Schools) be authorized to issue it's general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $4,365,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the construction and equipping of additions for physical education, wellness and flexible learning commons to the high school and middle school site and facility?"
I attended a Kenyon-Wanamingo school board meeting in August and heard a very informative presentation concerning these needs and the finances involved.
At that time Superintendent Pesta told board members if both questions were to pass, a savings would be seen in the overall cost, bringing the cost down to about $10 million for both projects.
