There are 14 weight classes in high school wrestling in Minnesota, and the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights qualified almost every wrestler on their team for individual competition at the state tournament this week.

That shows why they are the top seed in the team competition, which is Thursday.

Kenyon-Wanamingo will open with Section 1A champion Caledonia at 9AM, and the match will be on KDHL Radio.

We will follow the Knights throughout the tournament, hopefully to the finals at 7PM.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa qualified five wrestlers, Goodhue three, Pine Island two and Medford one for individual state competition.

For Kenyon-Wanamingo, their 106- and 113-pound wrestlers are both ranked No. 1 and seeded tops in the tournament: freshman Jeron Matson at 106 and senior Ethan Cota at 113.
