The Third District American Legion Baseball Tournament is scheduled to wrap up this weekend in Montgomery and Waterville.

Field conditions forced games Friday evening to be moved to Le Sueur, where Plato defeated Belle Plaine 8-6 and St. Peter beat Le Sueur-Henderson 4-1.

At 11:30 this morning, Kenyon-Wanamingo plays Plato in Montgomery in an elimination game and that will be followed by Goodhue and St. Peter squaring off in another elimination affair.

At noon, Pine Island and Holy Family of Victoria meet in the winner's bracket with the victor still sitting unbeaten.

However unlike most double elimination tournaments where the winner waits for the other teams to whittle to one remaining team to attempt to defeat them twice and advance, in this tournament the winner of the noon game plays again today at 5 against the loser of the Goodhue game at Grose Field in Waterville.

The State American Legion Tournament is July 28-30 at New London-Spicer where pool play has been set up.

The District One Tournament is scheduled to wrap up this weekend in Lacrescent also.

At 11:00 a.m. Adams plays Caledonia and at 1:30 p.m. Medford faces St. Charles.

At 4:00 p.m. the winner of the St. Charles/Medford game tangles with the loser of the Adams/Caledonia contest.

The two teams vying for the championship will then be determined.

Sunday they square off at 11:00 a.m. and a 1:30 p.m. game would be held if necessary.
