Kenyon-Wanamingo Cheer Team Fundraiser is Saturday
The Kenyon-Wanamingo Cheer Team is having a chili fundraiser at JB's Tavern in Wanamingo this Saturday.
Serving is from 4-10PM and in addition to the chili, bread and dessert dinner there will be a silent auction and music provided by a DJ.
In addition to indulging in delicious chili you can donate a silent auction item or become a sponsor of the team.
In December the Kenyon-Wanamingo Competition Cheer Team took first place at the Hawkeye Championship and received a bid to the national cheer competition in Orlando, Florida, in February.
It's the first time in the history of the program the team has been invited to a national competition.
The fundraiser will help with the expenses of travel and lodging.
The Kenyon-Wanamingo cheerleaders have given back to their community by participating in the Adopt a Highway program cleaning litter from ditches in the Kenyon-Wanamingo area.
After winning the Hawkeye event and learning about the national bid, one of the cheer team members said, "I used to watch this competition on TV when I was a little girl and now I get to do it!"
