The Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights used aggressive base running again to put the pressure on an opponent defense Wednesday night in Kasson.

Kenyon-Wanamingo won the quickly played game 6-0. The game took 1 hour and 39 minutes.

The Kasson-Mantorville Komets had a few of their starters out on a physics trip to Valleyfair, but head coach Brock Threinen told KDHL that's no excuse.

Senior right-hander Ethan Benda was lights-out good on the mound, allowing just one hit in my scorebook while striking out 12 and not walking a single batter. Benda finished the game with 79 pitches thrown in seven innings, 59 for strikes, and had 17 first-pitch strikes to the 24 batters he faced.

Benda had a no-hitter going into the last inning when cleanup hitter Aaron Berge laced a solid single to right field with one out. The Komets' two other base runners in the game got on base due to an error.

Berge started the game for Kasson-Mantorville and the senior right-hander fell behind a number of batters but still did not allow a run until the fourth inning. Knight cleanup hitter Ted Androli opened the inning with a walk and stole second, catcher Dylan Craig laid down a bunt to get Androli to third and Blake Jacobson bunted a ball that was about a bat length above his head to score the speedy Androli on a suicide squeeze.

In the fifth, Berge faced three batters and left the game with runners at first and second after a walk and single with one out. Junior Riley Schwenke entered the game and got the first batter to pop out in the infield for the second out. Androli then clubbed a 2 RBI double, which was followed by an RBI single by Craig.

After a hit batsman to start the sixth inning, Schwenke attempted to pick the runner off at first and the ball ended up getting away so Blake Jacobson was at second base.

Calvin Steberg was walked and Schwenke's pitching duties were over with Threinen bringing in senior Michael Head.

The catcher tried to pick off Steberg at first following a ground out that advanced Jacobson to third base. Jacobson scored on the throwing error Steberg wheeled to third and scored on a fielder's choice.

Our Sviggum Insurance Agency Knights of the game were Benda, Androli and Gavin Roosen. Roosen had a double and two singles, scored a run and had an RBI. He also stole a base. Androli smacked an 2 RBI double, scored twice  and stole a couple bases.

With the win, the Class AA No. 6-ranked Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights are 17-2 and finish their regular season at home Thursday against Triton.
