The Kssson-Mantorville KoMets are Minnesota Class 2A State Wrestling champs and finished their dual team season unbeaten.

The KoMets throttled Mora in their first match 64-3, then defeated Scott West 36-18 before dumping Foley 37-21. The Foley Falcons were a surprise in the finals after beating Simley 31-28.

In  their quarterfinal match with Mora, Kasson-Mantorville showed they were locked in with six falls along the way, four majors and a tech fall.

The KoMets fell behind 3-0 in the semis before reeling off four straight wins against Scott West.

Eighth-grader Patrick Kennedy got a major decision at 145 pounds for Kasson-Mantorville's first bonus points of the match. Following a Panther pin at 152, top-ranked Brady Berge righted the ship at 160 with a fall in :26. The KoMets reeled off tour straight wins to seal the deal and move into the title match.

The Foley Falcons achieved wins in two of the first three matches before forfeiting at 126.

Kasson-Mantorville collected three straight wins before a Patrick Kennedy major decision at 145 followed by a Foley win at 152. Brady Berge stuck another opponent in 1:17 at 160 before a Foley wrestler got the fall with seven seconds to go in the 170-pound match.

Aaron Berge at 182 and Noah Ryan at 195 both got pins in :28 and 4:37, respectively. The Falcons closed out the match with decisions at 220 and 285.

It's Kasson-Mantorville's second state title. They won the championship in 2013.

Two Hiawatha Valley League teams with state championships is awesome. Kenyon-Wanamingo captured the single A crown and gave Kasson-Mantorville their toughest match of the season.

Scott West is the third-place victor. The Perham Yellowjackets win the consolation championship.

Apple Valley did not have an easy road to another title.

The Eagles beat Hastings 46-15 before winning 46-24 over St. Michael-Albertville. Anoka is the third-place champion, defeating Willmar 42-23. Hastings won the consolation championship 44-33 over Minnetonka.
