The Kenyon-Wanamingo Cheer team had a successful fundraiser Saturday evening at JB's Tavern in Wanamingo.

The chili was delicious when I arrived as they were beginning the event. I couldn't stay long because I had a broadcast Saturday night in Albert Lea.

The place was packed with people, and a number of folks were bidding on the silent auction items by the time I was getting ready to leave.

I'm not a huge sweets guy but I have to admit the triple chocolate chip cookies were good.

The K-W Cheer team is heading to Orlando, Fla., in February to compete at nationals and is raising money to help pay for their flight and stay in Florida.

Head coach Shannon Schaefer told me Saturday they are flying to Florida with a couple of teams from Minnesota to help discount that cost.

Hundreds of teams are competing at this event.

The K-W team was invited after winning a tournament in Iowa last month.
