The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has selected Johnny Cash as its 2016 Music Masters honoree, and has planned a week's worth of events, as well as a tribute concert, to honor the Man in Black.

The tribute concert itself is scheduled for Oct. 21 at Cleveland, Ohio's Playhouse Square’s State Theatre at 7:30PM. Cash and wife June Carter Cash's son John Carter Cash will serve as the event's executive bandleader, with keyboardist Tony Harrell acting as band director. Performers for the all-star event include Sam Bush, Paul Cauthen, Ana Cristina, Ira Dean, Nikki Lane, Terry McBride, Bill Miller, the Oak Ridge Boys and Charlie Worsham, as well as Social Distortion's Mike Ness, Eilen Jewell and punk band X. Additionally, Cash's longtime drummer WS Holland will perform.

“Throughout his career, Johnny Cash, transcended genre boundaries and embraced rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk and gospel,” says Jason Hanley, vice president of education and visitor engagement for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. “What’s so amazing about Cash is that almost every musician you ask will tell you that they love his music."

In addition to the concert, the Music Masters series will include special programs such as a screening of We're Still Here: Johnny Cash's Bitter Tears Revisited, an interview with and performance from Rosanne Cash and Johnny Cash Day at the Hall of Fame. More information about the programs can be found on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's official website.

“I realized some of my first dreams when I was actually owning recordings of some of my heroes, people that had influenced me and made an impression on my life,” the icon recalled during his speech. “I’m extremely proud of [this honor], and whether I belong here or not, I’m going to … show it off at home.”
