This is one of my favorite times of the year. It is always a busy spring and summer. This is the time of the year to catch your breath and get ready for the approaching harvest. Plot days are a way for local seed dealers and companies to show off and talk about current soybean varieties and corn hybrids in their lineup. Typically they also have new corn hybrids and soybean varieties in the plot along with some experimental ones in development.

There is another reason I enjoy going to plot days. It is a social event too! You can sit down and talk with other farmers, company agronomists and local seed dealers about the growing season, weeds, insects, how the yields will be, sports and whatever else comes up. I remember growing up you would often see farmers standing by the side of the road or along the line fence talking for a few minutes. You don't see that a lot anymore. I guess we are too busy these days, except for plot days. By the way, the food and refreshments are pretty good too!
