The annual Hogfest celebration in Claremont changes a little bit year to year. This year several new events were added to the lineup.

The human foosball game was a new idea for Hogfest and was drawing the attention of a number of people. Event organizers built the framework for the game after some online research. Outdoor movies have become a summer staple and the Claremont organizers showed Home on Friday night. A little tykes derby was added to the Sunday lineup just before the grand parade.

A new concept for Friday night was the opportunity to buy a cup and get free refills for the evening. The citizen of the year and community service award presentation were moved from Friday night to Saturday afternoon to coincide with the Chamber of Commerce pork and sweet corn feed.

The always-popular garden tractor pull drew big crowds on Friday night. The band Smokescreen played again on Saturday night. The car show and antique tractor display on Sunday morning bring in many entries each year. The grand parade wraps up the event Sunday at 1:30PM.

The RAD Zoo from Owatonna brought animals to Hogfest on Saturday. Race fans could look at Denny Hamlin's car and get pictures close-up. Kids games run throughout the weekend. Committee member Ashley Kraudy told Kat Kountry 105 she remembers playing games at Hogfest as a kid and was helping run the games this year.

The land to hold the mud bog was not available this year. And the diamond used for the home run contest will become a thing of the past when CHS builds its new plant on that site.

Local farmer Brad Ahrens humored the radio broadcast crew by demonstrating a hog call. Other on-air radio guests included Romell Matejcek, Bryon Wolf, Ryan Swenson and chamber president Dean Schuette.
