Highway 19 eastbound detour planned in Northfield, Friday, Jan. 24

Underground electric cable work anticipated to take 10-14 days

ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Eastbound motorists on Highway 19 in Northfield at Odd Fellows Lane will encounter a lane closure and detour beginning

 Friday, Jan. 24, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Xcel Energy is having an underground primary electric cable replaced under Highway 19. The work is expected to be completed in 10-14 days.

Motorists approaching Northfield from the west will encounter the Highway 19 detour after the St Olaf College entrance.

Detour:

• Turn left on Forest Avenue, proceed east

• Road becomes Third Street West

• Turn left on Linden Street

• Turn right on Second Street West

MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
