The deadline for reporting your acres to your local Farm Service Agency is July 15, 2016. That is required if you are in the Farm Program. It is a common practice that we take that report from the Farm Service Agency over to our crop insurance agent. That deadline used to be June 30 but that was changed this year to July 15. At least now they are both the same.

Some county Farm Service Agency offices require an appointment while others do not. However, if you have a number of farms it would be better to call ahead. That way they have all your paperwork ready. It is also a good idea to have your maps with planting dates all filled out. It is easy for me to remember because I only have three farms. It would be different if you had 15 farms or more. It is also a good idea to not wait until the last couple of days. I have heard of some pretty long lines for those "last minute folks."
