We consider it sometimes when we are talking about setting up a living will with our families. We consider it when we renew our driver's licenses. I am talking about being an organ donor. In this day in age when so many transplants can help people, even save their lives, I think it's a good thing to do.

Some recent polls have shown that more than 90 percent of people think that organ donation is a good thing. Only 48 percent of those signed up actually donate their organs. And, according to the American Transplant Foundation, there are 123,000 people at any time waiting for an organ transplant. The sad thing about transplants is that one family is elated an organ is received, but often it means a tragic event has happened to another family.

Over the years transplants have become more successful. People live longer with transplants a lot of the time. So do like I did. Become an organ donor and help save a life or make someone's life better.
