I saw this scene going out to the farm earlier this week. Now this is how you can harvest beans fast! A quarter section or 160-acre bean field would disappear in a hurry with these machines. Three big combines with it looks like 25- or 30-foot heads. Plus you have the grain cart to unload on the go. I am sure the driver in the grain cart had to really move to keep those combines rolling.

I wish my grandpa could have seen this. The first combine I remember grandpa had was a John Deere 55 with a 12-foot bean head and two-row corn head. No matter how cold, hot or dusty, the operator sat out in the open enduring it all. However, I guess that John Deere 55 was a big improvement over the little pull-type combines with engines on them. Plus, these combines have guidance systems so they even drive themselves. We have come a long way since those early combines!
