The Hamline women's basketball school record for threes in a game is 14, and the most by an individual is seven. They came close in both areas in a 92-67 win over Carleton on Wednesday night.

Hamline came into the game without the MIAC's leading scorer, Jordan Sammons. The senior from Burnsville, Minn., also leads the league in rebounding and steals, but boy did her teammates step up in a must-win game against the Knights. Sophomore Chelsey Bonsante of Ironton, Minn., hit five of Hamline's 12 threes and tallied 23 points. Sophomore point guard Chloe Graves of Denver scored every way imaginable while collecting 32 points -- three triples, seven of nine at the free throw line, layups, slashes to the basket -- you name it, Graves did it. Sophomore Mattie Shelton of Pine Island played 20 minutes for Hamline and had five points, two rebounds and two assists.

Carleton senior Skyler Tsutsui scored 20 points and is now eighth on the all-time Carleton women's basketball scoring list. She's 26 points away from seventh. She missed much of last season with a shoulder injury. Two other Knights were in double figures: Michele Arima had 10 points and Gabbi Stienstra 10 points.

In case you were wondering, the most points ever scored by a Hamline women's team came against St. Catherine with 108, and the Pipers scored 95 earlier this season in an overtime win over University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Hamline still has an outside shot at a playoff berth and needs help to make it. Carleton's role will be one of spoiler in their final few games. On Saturday, Carleton hosts St. Benedict at 1 p.m., and then Wednesday head to St. Mary's in Winona. On Feb. 21, they travel to Bethel to close out their season. The Pipers host St. Olaf on Saturday, and travel to St. Catherine and at St. Thomas next week.
