The Minnesota Corn Growers Association is encouraging all corn growers in Minnesota to comment on the new Groundwater Protection Rule. This is what used to be called the Nitrogen Regulations. The formal rulemaking process continues to move forward. There will be five public Administrative Law Judge hearings held around Minnesota this week. Farmers can submit written comments on the proposed rule through August 2, 2018. From what I understand the proposed rule will have a much larger impact on nitrogen management in other areas of Minnesota.

"It is vital that all corn farmers engage in this process and provide comment to ensure the rule accomplishes it's goal of protecting the state's groundwater while making some sense of implementation." The Minnesota Corn Growers sent a postcard to Minnesota's 24,000 corn farmers to provide  instructions on how to engage in the rulemaking process. In an effort to help corn farmers understand the formal rulemaking process and stay up to date a web site is available. So visit: mncorn.org/NitrogenRule.
