Kasson-Mantorville junior Kristin Scott had 39 points to propel the Komets to a 67-56 win over the Goodhue Wildcats in the overall Hiawatha Valley League title game in Goodhue on Saturday night.

Scott scored at will during the contest. Komet head coach Ryan Heraldson called it, "a quiet 39."

Kasson-Mantorville came right out of the opening tip and jumped to a 9-0 lead that was 24-9 at the seven-minute mark. Goodhue did manage to whittle the deficit down to 10 points at the half, 34-24.

The Komets punched the lead up to 20 with 5:32 to go in the game before Goodhue scored on consecutive turnovers but never seriously challenged the Kasson-Mantorville lead.

Maddy Miller paced Goodhue with 21 points.

The bottom line story of the game was Scott's dominance in the middle. The 6-foot-2 junior grabbed rebound after rebound in addition to scoring and owned the paint.

Kasson-Mantorville senior Maddie Worden was the only other Komet in double figures with 10 points, and Goodhue's 5-foot-5 junior guard McKenzie Ryan had 13.
