The Goodhue Wildcats defeated the Blooming Prarie Awesome Blossoms Saturday 54-42 to advance to the Section Final next week.  Goodhue's intense defense kept Blooming Prairie off balance in the first half and the Wildcats led 27-10 at the intermission.  Mikayla Miller had a quiet 30 points, but whenever Goodhue was in need of a hoop, she would deliver.  Goodhue was 13 of 16 from the free throw line and Blooming Prairie 5 of 8 and the Wildcats had just 10 turnovers in the game while the Awesome Blossoms had 18.  Goodhue tallied 13 points off those turnovers.  Blooming Prairie was held to four first half field goals, but came out on fire to start the second half.  Cutting the deficit to single digits within just a few minutes to start the second half, thanks in large part to Junior Madison Worke.  Worke finished with 21 points.  The Awesome Blossoms finish their season 19-8 and the #1 rated Wilcats are now 22-5 and still have not lost to a Class A school this season.  Goodhue will play Rushford-Peterson Thursday night at 6pm on POWER 96 Radio...95.9FM.  The Trojans beat Fillmore Central in the first game of the day at the Mayo Civic Auditorium in Rochester 34-20.
