Goodhue Will Face Powerful Minneota in Semifinal Football

The Goodhue Wildcats have been peaking at the right time. Particularly on defense.

Goodhue has pitched successive shutouts in the playoffs and will need that defense against explosive Minneota on Saturday afternoon.

They will play the unbeaten Vikings in Prior Lake at 3PM.

Goodhue ended Faribault Bethlehem Academy's season Friday 14-0 while Minneota rolled over Browerville in Alexandria 41-6 on Saturday afternoon.

Also on Saturday in Class A, unbeaten Minneapolis North outscored Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 54-29 at Gustavus and unbeaten Braham dominated previously unbeaten Mahnomen 44-6 at Bemidji State.

Minneapolis North and Braham will play at St. Cloud State Saturday night at 8PM.

In Class AA

Unbeaten Caledonia plays unbeaten Ottertail Central at Mounds View High School Saturday at 1PM.

The other semifinal unbeaten, Pipestone Area, will face United North Central at St. Cloud State on Friday at 8PM.

United North Central got by Moose Lake Willow River on Halloween 21-20.

In Class AAA

The Tri-City United Titans beat Belle Plaine on Saturday at Lakeville North High School 41-24 while Pierz blanked Albany in a slug fest 9-0 at St. Cloud State.

Pierz is unbeaten and the Titans have one loss this season. They play Friday at 7PM at Park Center High School.

The other semifinal has Jackson County Central and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton squaring off at Maple Grove High School on Saturday afternoon at 1PM.

Jackson County beat St. Croix Lutheran at Gustavus Saturday 44-26 while Dilworth downed Proctor 39-21 at Brainerd High School.

In Class AAAA

Stewartville remained unbeaten while rolling over Marshall 35-7 at Farmington High School on Friday and defending state champion Becker defeated Benilde-St. Margaret's 48-7 at Osseo High School on Halloween.

Stewartville and Becker play Friday at 7PM at Chanhassen High School.

The other semifinal features South St. Paul and Rocori at Maple Grove High School on Saturday at 4PM.

In Class AAAAA

Defending state champion Mankato West beat Rochester John Marshall 42-20 in Lakeville  and St. Michael-Albertville edged Spring Lake Park 15-14 at Osseo High School on Saturday.

Mankato West faces St. Michael-Albertville on Saturday at 6PM at Prior Lake High School.

Nine-man

Defending state champion Grand Meadow rolled over Cleveland/Immanuel Lutheran 52-14 at New Prague High School while Waubun remained unbeaten after a 39-0 drubbing of Silver Bay at Bemidji State on Saturday.
