The Goodhue Wildcats used tenacious defense and good shooting to dismantle the Grand Meadow Superlarks 66-46 today.

Wildcat 6-foot-3 junior Jacob McNamara poured in 18 of his 22 points in the first half.

McNamara was in the zone, as they say, stepping out and connecting on three 3-point baskets in addition to his spin moves to the basket from the block.

The Wldcats led 41-19 at the half.

Goodhue also pressured the Superlarks at times and scored 11 points off 11 turnovers in the first half.

They finished with 20 points off turnovers.

Great defense makes opponents feel uncomfortable, and that's exactly how Grand Meadow looked -- uncomfortable.

Goodhue head coach Matt Halvorson told KDHL after the game he was proud of his team executing the game plan to perfection.

The Wildcats played more uptempo than I've seen this year and Halvorson said that was part of the game plan.

In addition to McNamara's 22 points, 6-foot-1 junior Ben Opsahl had 12 and 6-foot-2 senior Calvin Peterson had 11.

Goodhue dominated on the glass and rebounded better than the three-time state champion in nine-man football.

The Wildcats will play the winner of the East Subsection in Section 1A at 6PM Thursday in the Mayo Civic Arena on KDHL.

State-rated Spring Grove will play state-ranked and defending state champion Rushford-Peterson in the East title game.
