Tuesday was the opening day of the 154th Goodhue County Fair in Zumbrota and AM Minnesota will be there through Friday.

State Farm Insurance Agent Lyle Wendroth, with offices in downtown Zumbrota and Kenyon, is co-sponsoring our programs along with the Security State Bank of Kenyon and the Craig Keller Insurance Agency in Nerstrand.

I certainly enjoyed my visit with Natalie Johnston on Tuesday. She is the new 4-H program coordinator in Goodhue County and shared some very interesting information.

Did you know Goodhue County has the largest number of 4-H youth with hogs in the state? Goodhue County is not the top hog producing county in Minnesota.

The county's population ranks 20th in the state, and it has one of the largest 4-H programs. We visited in the 4-H building .

While AM Minnesota is being aired Wednesday there will be a marketing meeting sponsored by the Farm Business Management Department of Riverland College under the 4-H Tent just outside the building. Marketing strategies in corn, soybeans and other commodities will be discussed.

Someday this week, a member of the Goodhue County Fair Junior Board of Directors will be a guest.

Wednesday night's Grandstand event is a Demolition Derby and it's Day Care Day Wednesday in Zumbrota.

I always enjoy talking to the little people because you never know what they'll say. A few years ago I talked to a little girl during Day Care Day at the Goodhue County Fair and asked her if she might see a dinosaur at the fair and with a big smile on her face she told me I was "silly."

Tune in at 9:30AM and be informed.

Below is a great picture entered in open class in the 4-H building.
