Last week I had the opportunity to drive this Army truck. It was manufactured by Dodge during the Korean War. It is called an M37 heavy weapons carrier. All the four-wheel drive pick-ups of today can be traced back to the M37. It was the first "all wheel drive" truck that was manufactured. It has the reputation of being the toughest, most durable truck the Army has ever had. Plus with "all wheel drive" it could go through more mud and snow than any other truck of its time.

This Dodge M37 heavy weapons carrier is owned by John Ferguson of Northfield. John's neighbor Dave Legvold hosted a water quality field day sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture. All the ag media needed a ride out to the field. John asked if I could drive a four-speed with a creeper and double clutch. I told John I was sure I could handle the M37. In case you were wondering, I did not dump anyone off the back of the M37!
