With the ground already saturated, this week's rain caused extensive flooding throughout southern Minnesota. In what seems to be becoming a pattern, Mother Nature isn't finished yet.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for northwestern Steele County, southeastern Dakota County, Rice County, southwestern Goodhue County, northeastern Waseca County and southeastern Le Sueur County until 8AM Saturday. Cities included in this warning are Owatonna, Faribault, Northfield, Waseca, Cannon Falls, Waterville, Kenyon, Dundas, Medford, Stanton, Morristown and Elysian.

The Weather Service says the Straight River crested yesterday in Owatonna, and the flood crest now is in Faribault. They expect the Cannon River to crest today in Northfield at a little over 900 feet. Cannon Falls should expect to see the river crest Saturday morning near 18 feet.

But there's more rain on the way, with showers and thunderstorms forecast for Saturday, possibly through Monday. So it doesn't look like we'll get the chance to dry out any time soon.

The Owatonna quarry is overflowing, which it last did during the 2010 flood.
