Sunday afternoon was the first time I got out to the farm after all the flooding rain Wednesday night and Thursday morning. We were fortunate because we did not get as much rain as just a few miles to the north in Waseca. Waseca received 2.5 inches Wednesday morning and another 7.5 inches Thursday morning. We did not get any rain Wednesday morning and Thursday morning we received a little over 4 inches.

I was very pleased at how much the water had dropped in just three days. You could see how high the water had gotten by looking at the mud on the crops and grass along the rivers and drainage ditches. This is a picture of the Cobb River about a mile down the road from my farm. Sunday afternoon it was almost back in its banks. The water level in my drainage ditches had dropped down to about half full, which means my tiles should be running too. Maybe I am dreaming but maybe it will be dry enough to combine beans this weekend?
