It doesn't feel like it yet, at least not until you walk into any store that sells school supplies, but, the first day of school is coming, and it's coming soon. For most schools in this area, school will be starting in about 3 weeks, give or take a day here or there. And, if you ask most parents, at least the ones I know, school can't start soon enough.

The school supplies lists are out, both online, and in the stores, school districts are sending out emails and letters about lunches and getting schedules for the upper grades, elementary students are getting their room assignments. I did some research, and here's the skinny on the first day of school:

Owatonna will start on Tuesday, September 4th for grades 9-12. Wednesday, September 5th for grades 6-8, and Thursday, September 6th for K-5. There will also be before school interview days and 6th Grade orientation prior to the first day of school. For more information about Owatonna, click here.

Medford will start on Tuesday, September 4th for grades 7-12, Thursday, September 6th for grades 1-5, and Monday, September 10th for Kindergarten. for more information about Medford, click here.

Blooming Prairie will start on Tuesday, September 4th. For more information, click here.

Faribault will start on Tuesday, September 4th for middle and high school only. Elementary school will start on Thursday, September 6th. For more information, click here.

I am so ready for school to start, and really hoping that all the area students have a great year. I am also excited to see the obligatory First Day of School pictures that will fill my Facebook feed that first week in September.
