FFA Winter Leadership Day

Friday I was asked to help Judge the Creed Speaking Contest at the Region 8 FFA Winter Leadership Day that was held at Riverland Community College in Austin. In addition to the Creed Speaking Contest there were many other contests. They included Job Interview, Best Informed Greenhand, Discussion Meet, Prepared Public Speaking, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Plus, there were State Degree Interviews, Region Officer Interviews and Entrepreneurial Proficiency Interviews.

There were certainly a lot of FFA members at Riverland Community College Friday. All were in blue jackets and black pants or skirts which is the "official" dress of the FFA. There were 3 judges for the Creed Speaking Contest plus a region Advisor that ushered each contestant into the room. Needless to say a lot of volunteers were needed for all the contests and interviews. All the contests, interviews and volunteers were organized by the Region 8 FFA Advisors. FFA members that placed high enough in each contest earn the right to compete at the Minnesota State FFA Convention this spring at the University of Minnesota St Paul Campus.
