Farmland Real Estate Taxes Due Today

Do not forget to send the second half of your real estate taxes today. Homes and other property real estate taxes were due in October but farmland received a grace period of 30 days. That means today is the day to make sure your taxes are postmarked. Most homeowners do not have to be concerned about sending their real estate taxes. I think almost all home loans are set up with the monthly payments large enough cover the real estate taxes. Then the bank or lender pays the real estate taxes for the home owner.

It is easy for a farmer to forget to send their real estate taxes. We are of course focused on getting the crop harvested and fall tillage done. For me I also have a trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis and the Farm Broadcasters Convention in Kansas City during the fall too. By the way if you forget to send them on time like I did a few years ago they do enforce a late fee!
