The Faribault Youth Center opened in the Faribo West Mall on June 13 and organizers are still hoping to get the word out more so youth will take advantage of the facility.

It's a location for youth to interact with friends and socialize with others. The idea is to provide a positive supervised environment for kids to hang out in. The facility is being run by volunteers and there are no paid employees. If you would like to volunteer, they could certainly use the assistance. Check out their Facebook page for more information.

I'm not sure the specific hours, so we will get that information. I know school nights they are open from 4-8PM.

They had a problem getting volunteers initially and, according to information on Facebook, they had 1,269 visitors as of November 13. We will also find out how you can volunteer. I know some high school youth have volunteered to assist in that area but there will always be adult supervision.

If you can't tune in at 9:30AM when Laura Sterling from the Faribo West Mall stops by, then watch the program at www.youtube.com/user/KDHLRadio.
