The Faribault Falcon volleyball team opened the season in New Prague with a five-set victory over the Trojans.

After a 5-5 tie in the first set, New Prague went on to win handily 25-15. Faribault made the adjustments and picked up 25-21 wins in sets two and three before New Prague picked up a 25-20 fourth set win. The Falcons captured the fifth set 15-13.

The two teams squared off to start last season in Faribault, with the Trojans sweeping the match.

Senior Lauren Isaacson led the way with 18 kills, according to my tally - four in the first set, five in the second set, four in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Senior Alexis West added 13 kills and freshman Bennett Wolff had nine kills.

Senior setter Morgan West joined Isaacson, Alexis West, Wolff and senior libero Grace Amacher as the Faribault State Farm Insurance Agents Faribault players of the match.

Amacher went on a serving tear in Faribault's third set victory and had a phenomenal save of a ball in the second set.

New Prague had their way at the net in the first set and it looked like it was going to be a long night for the Falcons.

Head Coach JoAnna Lang and her staff made the adjustments necessary and the players executed them to pick up the win.

Lane told KDHL following the match her team has a couple of key players injured right now and she was proud with how they fought back after the first set loss to win the match.

It was the Falcons season opener while New Prague fell to 0-2 on the season.  The Trojans lost to Mayer Lutheran 3-0 in their season opener Thursday night.
