The Faribault Falcon softball team looked like they were picking up right where they left off earlier this week in their season opener.

Faribault was ahead 6-0 after two innings in their 9-6 loss to Owatonna at North Alexander Park in Faribault on Thursday night.

Meanwhile the Faribault Bethlehem Academy Cardinals hung on for a 8-7 win over one of their biggest rivals, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown, also at North Alexander Park.

Faribault managed just two hits over the final five innings.

Claire Drentlaw took the tough loss for the Falcons. The Falcons are now 1-1 and go to Red Wing for a 5PM game Friday.

In the Cardinal win, Tess Glenzinski was in the pitching circle, fanned six and walked five.

Bethlehem Academy had six hits and Waterville-Elysian-Morristown eight hits.

Sophomore Grace Viland was the only Cardinal with multiple hits (two) and had three RBI. Delaney Donahue had two stolen bases for BA.

The Cardinals host Maple River in a makeup game Friday at 4:30PM. Waterville-Elysian-Morristown is home against Belle Plaine at 5PM Friday.
