Faribault Pedestrian Struck by Train Expected to Survive

Faribault Police Chief Andy Bohlen has released the identity of a man struck by a train last night.  Emmett Crosby, 42, of Faribault.  Chief Bohlen says Crosby, "was allegedly sitting on a railroad bridge north of the old public works site (601 1st Ave. NE) when allegedly he was struck by the train which tossed him into the ditch."

Bohlen says the call came in shortly after 8:00 p.m. Thursday night.  Crosby suffered a serious injury and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The Faribault Police Chief says he is expected to survive.  Bohlen adds, "The police department believes alcohol was a factor with the pedestrian."

Faribault Police investigators continue to investigate and are working with railroad investigators.

The train was moving south through town and was stopped near Fifth Street Northwest.

Chief Bohlen told KDHL/POWER 96, "He's lucky to be alive."  He said Crosby could face possible railroad trespass charges.  A misdemeanor, but that has not been determined yet.
