The Faribault Lakers will open the State Amateur Baseball Tournament against an opponent we saw a couple times over the past two weekends in Owatonna.  The Stewartville-Racine Sharks defeated Cannon Falls Saturday night 3-2 to advance to the big show.  The Lakers and Sharks hook up 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19th in Shakopee at Joe Schleper Stadium.

The winner of that game goes back the following Sunday, August 26th to play Region 1 Champion Mora at 5:00 p.m. in New Prague.  Stewartville-Racine is a member of the Twin Rivers League and defeated Wanamingo and Cannon Falls on Saturday to punch their ticket to state.  The Sharks had 5 errors in the Wanamingo game and 1 error in the Cannon Falls contest.  They collected 11 hits against the Bears of Cannon Falls and 13 hits against Wanamingo.  The Jacks had a 5-4 lead going into the ninth inning of their game but Stewartville-Racine had 4 hits off two different pitchers in the top of the inning and scored three runs.

In the Cannon Falls game the Sharks were tied with the Bears at 2 going into the top of the 8th inning when they scored what would be the winning run after a two hit inning.

Stewartville-Racine had 3 multi-hit innings against Wanamingo and 2 multi-hit innings against Cannon Falls.  There was only one inning in the Cannon Falls game that they didn't have a hit and they had three innings with no hits against Wanamingo.

The Faribault/Stewartville-Racine winner plays Sunday, August 26th in New Prague against Region 1 Champion Mora at 5:00 p.m.

The Waterville Indians fell to Jordan in the Region 6C title game in Gaylord today and also play in Shakopee on Sunday, August 19th.  Noon is their game time and they will tangle with Lastrup.

The winner of that contest plays Sunday, August 26th at 5:00 p.m. against Region 12 Champion Hutchinson.

Region 3C Champion New Market gets the opening weekend off and then would play the Pelican Rapids versus Fort Ripley winner Sunday, August 26th at 11:00 a.m. in New Prague.

The New Prague Orioles play at home on Friday, August 17th at 7:30 p.m. against Ortonville with the winner playing in New Prague Sunday, August 26th at 1:30 p.m.

The St. Patrick Irish open with Lamberton on Saturday, August 18th at 7:30 p.m. in New Prague.  The winner of that game plays Region 5C title holder Red Wing at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 26th in Shakopee

Region 6C Champion Jordan opens play in New Prague Saturday, August 25th at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the Young America/Foley game.

Belle Plaine took third place in the Region 6C Tournament and will play Crookston on Saturday, August 18th at 5:00 p.m. in Shakopee.

Region 5C second place finisher Lake City is in Shakopee on Saturday, August 18th at 11:00 a.m. and tangles with Delano.

There are 48 teams in the Class C State Tournament and 216 total teams in that class in Minnesota.
