Faribault native, Ed Kane, will be inducted into the Minnesota State High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame!

Ed taught art at the Faribault area schools for over 30 years but really made his mark in the wrestling world. He coached the Faribault youth program for over 30 years, was the Head Coach of Bethlehem Academy's wrestling team for 5 years, and was the assistant and junior high coach for the Faribault team for 7 years.

He was also the head official for the NYWA state wrestling tournaments several times, was a MN Wrestling/Federation/MN/USA official for over 40 years, and was one of the first freestyle officials in Minnesota. Ed also did a ton with the Greco Team. He was selected to officiate the Final Greco Olympic Team Trials and has assisted with the Minnesota Freestyle and Greco-Roman teams for many years.

And if that wasn't enough, Ed was also the head coach for the first Minnesota cultural exchange team and took them to Norway and Sweden for competition.  Oh, and one more thing, Ed started taking teams to the National Duels, and of the 27 years he took them they won 22 national titles. That's insane!

Congratulations to Ed for this amazing honor! You definitely deserve this recognition for the crazy amount of hard work and dedication you have put into the sport of wrestling.

The induction dinner is taking place on April 28th in Benson, MN at McKinney's on Southside. The event starts at 4PM and dinner costs $33 if you are interested in attending.
