Six-foot-8 Faribault senior Kade Hart has been battling mono nearly this entire basketball season but looked healthy in a 68-65 overtime win at Mankato West on Monday night.

Hart scored 28 points with two threes in each half and had four of the Falcons' 10 overtime points, including a flush. He was also 4 of 4 from the free throw line. Hart was named one of our Faribault State Farm Insurance agents Faribault players of the game along with fellow seniors Cody Ehlers and TJ Hunt.

Hunt is still rounding back into playing shape after two incidents of a collapsed lung. He hit a monster three in the overtime and finished with seven points.

Cody Ehlers nailed a three to tie the game at halftime 31 apiece and hit another huge three late in regulation to help force the game into overtime. Ehlers finished with 13 points.

The Scarlets do not play super fast so 10 Faribault turnovers felt like 20, but the Falcons got a huge turnover turned into points in the overtime and shut off the turnover spigot in the extra period.

Mankato West's free throw shooting kept them in the game, hitting 18 of 23 while Faribault was 12 of 20.

It was Senior Night at Mankato West with a table set up with pictures of each player and a specially made cake for each player. There are seven seniors on the Scarlets team.

Mankato West seniors Troy Burmeister and Jake Makela had 15 and 14 points, respectively, and 6-foot-9 junior post Michael Sathoff finished with 14 points.

The win was huge for the Falcons for section seeding purposes. Faribault swept Mankato West during the regular season and should have locked up the No. 3 seed in the Section 2 AAA Tournament.

Seeds come out on Saturday and Faribault could be seeing Mankato West in their gym to start the section tournament next week.

The Falcons are now 11-10 in the Big Nine and 14-11 overall while Mankato West is 13-12 overall and 10-11 in Big Nine play.

The Scarlets head to Owatonna and Faribault is at Rochester Mayo on Friday to close out their regular seasons. Big Nine games Tuesday include Mayo at Winona, Owatonna at Mankato East, Northfield at Red Wing and John Marshall at Rochester Century.
