Faribault Goat Company Looking For Tree Donations

For kids, it's often a treat to see a lit Christmas tree inside the home. For another type of kid, it is a treat simply to munch on an undecorated former Christmas tree. Faribault-based Goat Dispatch is looking for your former tree to help feed its staff.

For the fifth year in a row local company Goat Dispatch to offer a unique “recycling” opportunity for real Christmas trees and wreaths. Goat Dispatch, owned by Jake and Amanda Langeslag, specializes in land management using goats to remove invasive and pest plant species and uses Christmas trees as a winter treat for their goat herd. Feeding the trees to the goats keeps the trees out of the landfill, puts them to good use as browse for the goats during the plant-free months, and uses the goats’ natural digestive processes to “recycle” the trees.

If you'd like to feed the goats with your tree you can drop off the tree at White Sands Dog Park located at 900 Lyndale Avenue North in Faribault. The drop off zone is in the Northwest portion of the parking lot. The trees need to be free of ornaments, metal, stands, and cannot be flocked.

About once a week Goat Dispatch will be bringing a trailer to load up the trees and bring them back to their farm.
